Normal sounds really nice about now

A quick update. The good news is John is out of the hospital since Saturday afternoon. No surgery required! (at this time anyway). We are keeping a close eye on him and he is on a pretty strict liquid/soft food diet for a while until his ulcer tries to heal itself with some medicine and time. Hopefully we will be able to avoid the big surgery because it would have been a doozy. Funnily, before John had this, I didn't even know ulcers ever required surgery. His ulcer was in a very unusual place (between the stomach and intestines) and it was keeping his food from draining properly--hence his inability to keep any food down. So far he has been doing really well on his limited diet and hasn't had any pain or throwing up, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. It has been a roller coaster of a weekend. Oh and to top it off, when I got home after John got released from the hospital that evening, I realized at 7:30 p.m. that Grant was not acting like his usual self and I suspected an ear infection. We ran out the door to get to the Urgent Care before it closed, and wouldn't you know it, we have a baby with an ear infection. We all know the saying when it rains it pours, so really, we're not that surprised. Too bad all of the nearby pharmacies were closed and we had to do a late night search for 24 hour pharmacies. The silver lining to that is that of course pharmacies have amazing candy selections so I bought some red vines and various other treats for ourselves and for John's Mom who has been here graciously helping us.

So that's the news. Sorry no pretty pictures. Sorry no kitchen reveal. Sorry no chipper blog post. We're just trying to get back to normal around here. Normal sounds gooooood. :)

Glad to hear John is home, and mom's are definately a blessing when it rains! I am glad you have an extra pair of hands around there.

You guys take the cake for medical problems. I have heard so many sad stories lately that have brought me to tears that I am just so glad for you guys that the doctors are able to fix your problems! I hope life goes back to normal crazy really soon.

Thank you for the update on John. We have been mighty worried around here about your family. I am thinking that you probably won't be making the trek to see us in 2 weeks. We are hopeful, but will understand if you want to just be as you say, normal, for a while--you deserve it! Take care, and enjoy your red vines!

Okay I'm a dork. I pushed the +1 button just to see what it would do and it did something. They keep adding new buttons and new technology and I can't keep up!
